Its rectangular house flag, with the letters MM on a white background and red corners, was famous in shipping circles, especially on the Europe-Asia trade lanes . Artist:
ALBERT BRENET (1903-2005)
Brenet was a painter, poster artist and illustrator. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1920, but it was his seven months journey on one of the last three trading sailings from Le Havre on the Bonchamp to the West Indies, which was decisive for his painting career. He traveled the world's oceans on different ships making sketches, that, -once back home- were transferred to canvas.
Albert Brenet was appointed Navy painter in 1936. Together with Marin-Marie, Roger Rosary and Mathurin Méheut , he is considered one of the great French marine painters of the twentieth century.
